After a short period of training a karateka will develop high standards which will enhance their character, developing a deep sense of obligation and knowledge they realise that with self discipline comes success
A karate-ka will recognise their own mistakes and the need for change and improvement. People who train in karate classes find karate will help to build self confidence , by developing confidence in their karate abilities, they begin to realise that with hard work and dedication they can be successfully and meet challenges and as a result they will never doubt their own abilities.
The willingness to practise long and hard and the refusal to accept defeat is probably the first attribute a karateka develops by persistent regular training. The drive that carries a karateka to success and the desire to improve not only their karate techniques but their character as well. is the most important thing they will develop, as the famous quote by Gichin Funakoshi the founder of Shotokan Karate says :-
“The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat but in the perfection of ones character” . Gichin Funakoshi 1868-1957
